BEIRUT, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) — Lebanese Water and Power Minister Nada Boustani stated on Saturday that Lebanon is getting ready for oil and gasoline exploration in Block four of its territorial waters, the Nationwide Information Company reported.
“I guarantee the Lebanese that preparations for the drilling of the primary oil properly in Block four could be very shut. We are going to obtain extra gear and a drilling vessel which is able to allow us to begin our work,” Boustani stated throughout her tour in Port of Beirut to verify the gear that the nation has acquired for the drilling work.
In response to the Lebanese minister, France’s power large Complete had signed a contract with the vessel that may do the drilling work and is presently working in Egypt.
The vessel will arrive in Lebanon in December or initially of January to begin work, Boustani revealed.
In February 2018, Lebanon signed its first offshore oil and gasoline exploration and manufacturing contracts for 2 power blocks with a consortium of France’s Complete, Italy’s Eni and Russia’s Novatek.
